Why Exfoliate your skin?

And why it is so important to get it right!

Our skin cells renew every 28 to 45 days – this process slows down as we get older. New cells are born in the deeper layers of the skin – also called the dermis. They then travel up to the surface of the skin and slowly die in the process – when they get to the surface, they are “dead skin cells” also called the Epidermis.

  • Dead skin cells clump together
  • Skin can appear dull and grey
  • Slough away dead skin cells
  • Skin will look fresher and brighter
  • Exfoliate regularly
  • Use a gentle nonabrasive product
  • Achieve optimal tone & radiance

The surface of the skin is made up of dead skin cells. So when we exfoliate, we help to slough off some of the dead skin cells, so our skin looks and feels fresher and brighter.

When we do nothing to help this process along the dead skin cells sit on the surface and start to clump together. Our

skin does not have that fresh look anymore; it looks dull and sometimes even a little grey.

Did you know that 95% of household dust is made up of dead skin cells?

The most common form of facial scrubs includes ground up seeds and shells –– which may cause micro scaring due to their jarred edges.

Beautiful skin takes work. Keep in mind that the purpose of exfoliating is to remove skin cells that are dead. You shouldn't have to scrub too hard or too often to make that happen. If you do, you're likely to take off healthy cells, too, which might leave your skin looking red and feeling sore.

As we age, our skin's natural ability to generate and shed skin cells slows down, you can overcome this challenge by exfoliating regularly.

Conclusion is that Exfoliation of the skin is key to achieving optimal tone and radiance. When the face is gently exfoliated, it stimulates the outer dermal layers to regenerate more quickly, not to mention the instant gratification of a smoother, more even-toned complexion.
